2018 Spring Regional Tour Itinerary
OPW Region Spring Tour April 21–23, 2018
Friday April 20 th 2018
Arrival at Best Western Hotel Plus
Meet and Greet: Best Western Hotel back parking lot 5 -7 pm
H’ordeuvres & tour information for Saturday’s Tour in Dining Room 7pm
Saturday April 21 st: tour begins at 8:30 am
Saxapahaw Mill town: 1 st stop 9:00 am
Saxapahaw General Store - Coffee break and shopping

Saxapahaw Mill Town Museum Tour. (museum contributions appreciated).
Gas up at a Non-Ethanol Gas Station (Recommended)
Leave Saxapahaw approximately 10 am
Pittsboro NC. 2 nd stop
Brunch at “Virlie’s Grill” (an Old Country breakfast)

S & T Soda Shop (an old fashion Ice Cream Parlor).

Note, if you do not want to have brunch at Virlie’s you may at your option eat lunch at the S&T soda shop (Hot Dogs, Hamburgers etc.) across the street. The tour will eventually meet at the soda shop after (Brunch or Lunch) for ice cream and tour the old ice cream parlor upstairs.
The PBS series (The Wood Wright Shop) has a training store that is located next to the soda shop and there is an Antique wood working tool store located on the second floor. Yes, the tools are for sale just bring money. If you are a wood worker you will love this store!
Shopping: Downtown Pittsboro has numerous eclectic shops, ranging from area history, toys, musical instruments, clothing, antiques, coffee shops and Wine tasting. The wine shop and tasting are located next store to the antique tool store. They are all within walking distance. Enjoy yourself!
After shopping we will meet and drive about 1 mile to the

Mead is an alcoholic brew made from Honey and is available for purchase at the store.
At approximately 2:30 pm we will leave Pittsboro and travel to the town of Silk Hope our 3 rd stop and we will tour the Farm Heritage Center which has a collection of antique farm equipment and steam engines.
We will leave the town of Silk Hope and travel through the country back to the hotel.
(Dinner in the Hotel Dining Area 7 pm)
Sunday April 22 nd
Breakfast at Hotel
Tour begins at 8:30 am to Old Glencoe Village. Glencoe Village is another mill town with a very eclectic group of homes and the
Textile Heritage Museum.

If any of you are looking for fabric for your car, this museum might have the pattern or even the fabric. The lady curator is a wealth of information on fabric. Tour at your leisure; stay as long as you wish until you want to leave.
